Skinbreeze Facial at the Sky Clinic Birmingham | Review

Sky Clinic Birmingham

With my quarter-of-a-century birthday looming ahead of me, the time has definitely come for me to get serious about my skincare. I was therefore SO excited when I was recently invited to try out one of the famous Skinbreeze facials, which are loved by a host of celebrities, including Binky Felstead and Chloe Lewis. If it’s good enough for these mega babes, then it’s certainly good enough for me.

So last Thursday night, I drove over to the prestigious Sky Clinic, which is in Edgbaston in Birmingham. Tucked away in a listed building on Islington Row, the Sky Clinic is a beauty blogger’s dream – all white and minimalist and completely Pinterest-worthy. Swoon.

Before the treatment began, the lovely therapist Salome talked me through how Skinbreeze works. It can be fully customized depending on any specific skin complaints the client has, be that acne, dry skin or fine lines or wrinkles. Salome commented that as my skin is pretty good without makeup (oh you charmer), I wouldn’t need a targeted treatment and so I think I just had the general facial. Of course I had nobody there to snap photos of me (thank the lawd), but here are some snaps of Binky’s Skinbreeze so you have a vague idea what I’m waffling on about…

Skin Breeze

The first stage of the Skinbreeze facial involved exfoliation using orbital microdermabrasion. This felt like a small smooth tool vibrating over my face – it wasn’t painful or unpleasant at all, and just a bit ticklish as it went over my nose. Next, Salome used LED light therapy to calm the skin, kill bacteria, reduce redness and speed up cell renewal. Despite Salome’s kind words at the beginning, I knew that this was a treatment my skin was in dire need of – I’ve had puffy, sometimes red skin around my eyes for a few months again, and my skintone is often uneven and a bit blotchy.

The next stage consisted of the O2 product infusion and spray. A selection of special serums were applied to my skin, and a small machine was used to deliver bursts of air that ensured they sank into my skin deeper. As this stage rehydrates the skin and also plumps it, it’s known as being an injection-free alternative to fillers. It certainly felt a lot nicer than I imagine a needle would – it felt a lot like someone blowing tiny raspberries all over your face, which of course almost made me laugh, but I kept it together like a professional (okay, maybe one snigger slipped out). Finally, it was time for the O3 Ozone Therapy section of the treatment, which involved a slightly warm wand being applied to the skin to cause the collagen and elastin fibres to shrink.

All in all, the Skinbreeze facial took around 45 minutes. When Salome offered me a mirror to take a look at my skin, I nearly swiped it out of her hand – I usually look hideous after any sort of cleansing, as my face tends to go red and blotchy until it calms down. However, I was shocked when I looked in the mirror at how good my skin looked. It looked completely hydrated and was completely calm and even. It felt a bit tighter, but not in a dry way – more in a ‘woo, someone touch my fresh new face’ kind of way.

Salome told me that I would see the full results in a couple of days and I have to say, four days later, I completely agree. My skin honestly looks the best that it has in a very long time – my pores seem clearer, my skin tone is more even and the red, puffy irritated skin around my eyes has completely GONE.

Skinbreeze is available at the Sky Clinic with prices starting from £50 for 30 minute sessions, or around £70 for a 45 minute session. Prices at other clinics around the country will vary, so take a look at the salon locator to find your local one.  A huge thank you to both the Skinbreeze team and Salome and the Sky Clinic for letting me try out such a luxurious and effective treatment!
