Rose Gold Hoop Earrings* | Rose Gold Love Coin Necklace*
My relationship with accessories has always been, shall we say, interesting. After largely ignoring them during my early teen years (was too busy being awkward, soz), I really started to take an interest in them when I was around 16/17. And by ‘take an interest’ I of course mean ‘throw on any bit of tat I could find in an attempt to look quirky and interesting’.
A few gems that I remember from this rather confused, half-arsed-emo-meets-indie-Cindy phase of my life include: a gigantic clock necklace, heart-shaped sunglasses, opaque purple tights and silver cowboy boots. No, I literally have no idea why either.
Next came my uni days, when I was basically only ever in going-out clothes or my pyjamas (that was the LIFE). This was the era of HUGE statement earrings and waist belts. And I mean waist belts with Every. Single. Outfit.
Smock dress? Waist belt. Top and skater skirt? Waist belt. Impossibly bodycon mini dress that literally has no need to be cinched in? Hun, get the waist belt. Oh Gok Wan, you had a lot to answer for…
Fast forward a couple of years and, with the exception of a few trends (who else spent the entire summer of 2014 in an obnoxiously large floral crown?), my relationship with accessories has calmed down a lot. These days, I’m much more of a ‘less is more’ kind of gal, and for a long time I didn’t really wear any jewellery other than a watch.
So when I got the opportunity to try some stunning pieces from Thomas Sabo, I couldn’t resist. From simple pendants to delicate charm bracelets, the website is filled with timeless pieces of jewellery that’ll suit all styles – including minimalist fans like me.
First up, I knew I had to have some earrings. There are over 200 designs to choose from at Thomas Sabo, from studs to ultra-long drop earrings that uni-me would have loved. In 2018 though, there was only one option: hoops. I’m obsessed with the hoop earring comeback – for me, it’s the bigger the better. I went for the Large Hoop Earrings, which are sterling silver with 18k rose gold plating. I think the rose gold brings the hoops bang up to date, but there are also classic silver and gold versions for authentic 90s vibes.
Little Secret Circle Charm Bracelet*
Next, I picked one of the Love Coin necklaces. This collection features a range of plain discs and heart pendants that can be engraved for a personalised touch. You can get initials, star signs or things such as the infinity symbol engraved at no extra cost. I kept my plain (shock), but I think this is such a nice idea if you’re buying it as a gift for someone else (and you can find out more about the engraving options here).
Finally, to finish my collection of minimal, rose gold pieces perfectly, I turned to the bracelets. I opted for one of the Little Secrets bracelets, which are super-cute, unisex cord bracelets that are meant to be given as friendship bracelets. There are over 20 symbolic designs for you to choose from – I loved the simple circle and warm-coloured cord of this one, and I think it compliments my earrings and necklace beautifully.
If it’s not obvious from all of this gushing, I’m completely in love with my new Thomas Sabo jewellery. The pieces are all beautiful individually, but I love how they can also be worn together and still look understated and chic (did I ever feel chic in my giant clock necklace? I’ll let you decide that one).
Can we also take a minute to applaud how friggin’ NICE the Thomas Sabo packaging is? With each piece in its own velvet pouch and giftbox, they feel seriously luxe to receive. Whether you’re treating yourself or handing one of these bad boys over on a special occasion, you and the recipient are both going to feel faaancy.
Now, if only there was a nice selection of waist belts available…

I absolutely adore the look of the necklace. I have been looking for a pendant necklace that I can get an initial engraved onto it!
