If you know me out in the ol’ real world, then you’ll probably know I’ve spoke about having lip fillers for about four years. No exaggeration. But like a lot of things – learning to bake or committing to an ab routine, for example – it was starting to seem like one of those things I wasn’t ever really going to get round to doing. What Is An LVL Lash Lift? Review & Results
As you might know if you’re a long-term follower, I’ve always been a fan of beauty treatments and procedures that can be seen as a bit ‘extra’. Hair extensions and acrylic nails have been a staple part of my very being since I was about 20, and I’ve dabbled in Hollywood lashes, dermal fillers and microblading. I suppose this makes it a bit surprising that I’ve just tried LVL lashes for the first time – really, where have I been? And why was I there with such stubby, rubbish lashes when I could have been WERKing these beauties?! View Full Post
My Dermal Fillers Experience (Nasolabial Folds)
Considering Instagram makes it look as if everyone in the country (plus their mums, plus their nans, plus their pets) have all had their lips done, and I’m pretty obsessed with trying any and all new beauty treatments, it’s surprising that I made it to the grand old age of 27 before I got any form of non-surgical tweaking. Yes, note the past tense. I’ve finally joined the masses and had a dermal filler treatment – but no, not in the lips like you might expect… View Full Post
James Bushell Birmingham Salon | Review
No, your eyes do not deceive you: it’s me, I am alive! I’ve been so busy adjusting to my new job that I haven’t updated for well over a month, which is a travesty because it means I’ve been keeping the news about this amazing salon to myself. And I’m super sorry about this, because as well as being alive for the last month, I’ve also been livin’ life with the most beautiful hair.
(If I do say so myself. Which I do.) View Full Post
The Secret to the Instagram Tan | Effin Tan Review
You know how some people are wine connoisseurs, able to recommend over six different full-bodied reds that would complement each course of your dinner party? I consider myself a bit like that, except with tan. Yes it’s a bold statement to make, but I think I’m a fake tan connoisseur.
(Except I don’t have a fake tan cellar… yet.) View Full Post
Eyebrow Microblading Review | Pain, Costs and Results
I FINALLY GOT MY EYEBROWS MICROBLADED Y’ALL.
After filling my brows in every single day for most of my adult life, it was no surprise that microblading – the semi-permanent tattooing technique that uses hair-like strokes – appealed to me ever since it emerged on the beauty scene a couple of years ago.
After following countless accounts on Insta and months of umm-ing and ahh-ing, I finally got them done last December. I had my top-up appointment about four weeks ago, and now feel ready to review the whole process properly. So if you’re curious about the costs, pain or results of microblading, read on. New Beauty Products I’m Loving | February 2018 Favourites
It’s been a wee while since I talked about makeup on the blog, and if you thought this might be because I’ve been going for a more natural look then you’d be WRONG. I still slap at least four layers of makeup on before heading to the shop for milk*, and am still making it my mission to find the absolute best products out there, in terms of both performance and value.
There have been a few makeup bits in the last month or so that have really stuck out to me – yep, including THE hyped mascara of the moment, Bad Gal Bang – so I thought I’d quickly round up why I’m loving them. Oh, and there are some honourable mentions to some skincare too.
*This is a joke… ish.
Christmas Gift For Her | Magnitone Barefaced Daily Cleansing Brush
If there’s been one hyped-up beauty product in recent years that has given me serious FOMO, it’s the facial cleansing brush. Designed to deep-clean, exfoliate and tone, it seemed like the product my skin was crying out for – and like a lot of women, it was top of my Christmas list (okay, maybe second after a puppy – that’s a dream I’m never giving up on, dammit).
So, you can imagine my absolute delight when the amazing Magnitone London Vibra-Sonic™ Facial Cleansing Brush* arrived at Casa de Claire, right in time to get my skin glowing for Christmas. In a stunning limited edition rose gold finish, the skincare tool instantly caught my attention – who wouldn’t want this pretty addition to their bathroom? But mainly I was excited to put the Magnitone to the test and see if these brushes are worth the hype. View Full Post
Peachy Fox Anti-Redness Skin Calming Cream | Review
In a complete 180 degree turn on my old attitude to skincare (which was, to summarise: zzz facewipes are all I need and I’ll be young forever) I now can’t get enough of the stuff. I’m always on the lookout for new products that will transform my dull, blotchy skin into something altogether more fabulous. Yep, I’m still chasing the dream of that #NoMakeupSelfie. I was recently sent the Anti-Redness Facial Cream* by Peachy Fox and, having seen it around the ‘gram a bit, I was intrigued to give it a go.
3 Best Brands of 2017 (So Far…)
So, God knows how this happened considering my Christmas dinner feels like it was last week, but we’re now more than halfway through the year. EEK. In order to distract myself from the sheer panic of how quickly time is going (and that I really need to start putting more money into pension, seeing as I’ll be 70 in about two months at this rate), I decided to focus on some of my favourite brand discoveries of the year. Of course there are still five months for me to fall in love with new products, but for now these are my winners of 2017… View Full Post
