Collection 2000 Lock n Hold Lipgloss in Rock Steady Review

DSCN4571

Hello you scoundrels,

I hope you are all having a marvellous Saturday. I’m bringing you a very quick review today, because quite frankly there is only so much you can say about lipgloss. A LIPGLOSS?! Yes, apparently we’ve time travelled to 2003 and I’m actually going to start doing OOTDs with my oversized disc belt and white gypsy skirt.

DSCN4578

Anywho, lipglosses are great – especially if you can tear yourself away from the terrible fact that no matter what you do, your hair will always get stuck to your lips. I like wearing them during the day, partly because they’re easy to reapply at my desk and also because I can’t be trusted to wear lipstick to work (i.e. it manages to get on my nose and forehead, don’t ask me how).

I’m a big fan of Collection and here at the old Stylingo ‘hood, we enjoy a bit of Collection 2000 reviewing – check out our Collection reviews if you’re feeling wild.

What I am not a fan of is cheap lipgloss. It tends to be really sticky, gloopy, generally rubbish and sob-inducing. The Lock n Hold lipgloss is £2.99, so we can safely say it’s a cheap lipgloss. But is it all of these tragic things?

PicMonkey Collage

Well….kind of. I do really like it and I recommend it if you’re looking for an everyday gloss. Their colour range is really nice – Claire has the lilac version and it looks absolutely brillo. I just find it a little bit gloopy and touch to work with. The trick is not to layer it on too thickly (quite obvious but easy to do with the Lock n Hold) and spread the colour evenly.

Rock Steady is a pale whitey nude colour, which is right up my street. It looks quite nice on and I’m happy with it! In terms of lasting 6 hours, I say to Collection…are you having a bleedin’ laugh?

What do you think? Have any of you tried the Lock n Hold Lipgloss?

Barry M Ultra Moisturising Lip Paint in Black Cherry (160) | Review

DSCN4409Hi gals,

After a very fashion heavy week (check out yesterday’s River Island Spring/Summer 2014 post, it’s grand), I’m bringing you a little lippy review to keep your beauty heads from exploding. Because I’m pretty positive if you don’t read this review, your head will explode. Definitely.

I picked up this Barry M Ultra Moisturising Lip Paint when I had a Boots haul with Claire a few weeks ago. I’ve been meaning to review it for AGES because it is brilliant, but here it is now and we can all get excited.

The basics of this lipstick is that it’s super super (some might say ultra) moisturising, meaning it won’t dry your lips and flake off like some lippies do. The Ultra Moisturising collection comes in a big range of shades, so whether you’re a fan of shimmering, pastel shades or bright, vibrant shades – there is one for every gal (thank you Queen Lizzy). I’m definitely a vibrant lip fan and frankly think I look a bit dead without a bright colour on my face.  With this in mind, I was excited to get the Lip Paint in Black Cherry (or shade 160 for those who like to communicate by numbers). I bought it for £4.49 from Boots and you can buy it yourself online here.

Overall, I really love it. It really is moisturising, while still being vibrant enough to be mega exciting. It also fades well and doesn’t cling to the outlines of your lips (no one wants to look like Pammy Anderson with too much lipliner on).

Lipstick 1

Lipstick Collage

My only bug bear is the colour on the lipstick stick versus the actual colour of the lipstick. If you wound this down to have a nosey at what colour it is, it looks practically black. Or at the very least a super dark purple. Once you’ve swatched it or put it on your face, it’s actually a much lighter pinky/purple – still pretty, but somewhat unexpected. You’d think that Barry M would be able to get the colour of the lipstick stick and the swatch colour the same by now. Come on guys. Fix up.

Besides that (which isn’t really a complaint at all, I just like to complain), I really love this lipstick and recommend it to all you gals who like slathering purple colours on your face. Triumphant huzzahs all round.

What do you think? Have you tried any of the Barry M Ultra Moisturising Lip Paints?

Makeup Fisticuffs: The Best Pink Lipstick

The Best Pink Lipstick 3Well, we may as well end this review here and now because it’s quite clear which pink lipstick I can’t stop wearing (I’d give you a prize but all I have is half a slice of toast and I am not giving that up for love or money).

Like any girl on the planet (and even the universe), I love a pink lipstick. Nothing says “look at me, I am a girl” by a nice pink lippy and the days I’m looking somewhat manly are always rectified by slapping some pink on my face.

When I decided to put this post together, I spent approximately 3 and a half minutes whittling down my collection to my top seven (if 7 is good enough for Voldemort’s souls, it is good enough for me). I can tell you here and now that I wear all of these on a regular basis, but there is one or two that really stand out for me. Without further ado, let the makeup fisticuffs commence. Let’s hope things don’t turn into a fracas. Or god forbid, a ruckus.

The Best Pink Lipstick 1

The Best Pink Lipstick 7

The Best Pink Lipstick 8 The Best Pink Lipstick 9(with flash/without flash)

The Best Pink Lipstick 6(from right to left)

Collection Deluxe in Tallulah – £3.99

This is one of my favourite everyday lipsticks, the perfect subtle pink that looks magnifico for a casual daytime face.

Pigment: Fabulous, it’s a lovely colourful shade that doesn’t look wishy washy at all.
Staying Power: Pretty good – it lasts for about 3-4 hours if you’re not scoffing cakes like I usually am.
Price: Grand and spiffy.

Kate Moss for Rimmel in 16 – £5.49

This is the lipstick that is permanently on my face. I love it.

Pigment: Amazing, one of the best pigmented lipstick I’ve used in my tiny little life.
Staying Power: Really good. This will last you a night out with no drams.
Price: You can buy a lipstick for the same price as a bottle of wine. Need I say more?

Clinique High Impact in Extreme Pink – £17.00

This is a stunning golden rose pink that is another daytime favourite for me. It’s so moisturising and really lovely.

Pigment: Not heavily pigmented but one coat is enough.
Staying Power: It’s a moisturising lipstick, so wipes off quite easily but if you’re not eating or drinking, it’s fab. It fades well too.
Price: Best to force rich strangers to buy this for you.

MUA in Lipstick Shade 4 – £1.oo

Not the best lipstick, but nice enough to put on if it’s the only thing you can find.

Pigment: Frankly, a puddle of water is more pigmented than this lipstick.
Staying Power: Less than Britney’s husbands.
Price: Amazing. Worth it just so you can tell people you own a lipstick that cost £1.

The Best Pink Lipstick 5(from right to left)

The Body Shop Colourglide Lipstick in Shade 58 – £6.00

The Body Shop makeup is something that I continue to be impressed with, and this vibrant lipstick is fabulous.

Pigment: Brilliant, top marks BS. These are sheerer lipsticks, but the pigmentation is still excellent.
Staying Power: Grand – the Colourglide lipsticks are quite ‘waxy’ so they stay on very well and are quite waterproof.
Price: Very, very reasonable for The Body Shop!

MUA in Lipstick Shade 3 – £1.00

This lipstick is much better than Shade 4. If you invest your pound before payday in anything, it should be this lipstick.

Pigment: Fantastic, considering it is one Great British Pound.
Staying Power: Also good, although it is quite a drying lipstick so it does get stuck in the cracks of your lips.
Price:  One pound. (?!?!)

The Body Shop Colourglide Lipstick in Shade 57 – £6.00

Another Body Shop favourite, the Colourglide lipsticks are really really vonderful.

Pigment: Really good – less vibrant than Shade 58 but really feminine and pretty.
Staying Power: As good as Shade 58 – it also fades just as well and my lips feel nourished and marv when I wear it.
Price: Worth it.

But who wins the title of Pink Lipstick Overlord? Obvs, Kate Moss for Rimmel in Shade 16. It’s incredible and rules my life in every way.

Christian Eyebrow Kit Review & Pictures

Christian Eyebrow Kit

I have an unhealthy obsession with eyebrow, I will happily admit. If you’ve read any of my many previous eyebrow kit reviews, you will know that I look like a ginger Voldemort without eyebrow makeup. Things get a bit alarming when I don’t have eyebrow makeup on, so searching for my Holy Grail eyebrow product has become a life-consuming challenge.

When I was in the market for a new eyebrow kit a few weeks ago, someone on Twitter recommended the Christian Eyebrow Kit. So obviously, I dived straight in and bought it (some might say I’m easily influenced and I would heartily agree). I’d not heard of Christian as a brand before, but it’s always exciting to try out new products and see how they perform. If you’ve not heard of Christian Eyebrow Kits before, then here’s a little information to get you all fired up (I feel alive).

Christian is a brand that mainly do eyebrow products, which are used throughout the UK by both professionals and idiots like me. The website is a bit baffling, but Christian Eyebrow is somehow linked to Calgel – which you’ll probably know about if you get your nails done in a salon (you fancy human being). The Christian Eyebrow Kits themselves are semi-permanent powders that adhere to the skin, rather than just to your eyebrow hairs. They’re meant to last up to 24 hours and are water resistant too (huzzah). The kits themselves come with stencils and the kits can be bought in variety of different shades. They’re also supposed to be an easy and affordable way to get perfect eyebrows in seconds.

Christian Eyebrow Kit

So. What’s my experience of the Christian Eyebrow Kit? In short, I really really like it. I think it’s one of the best eyebrow kits I’ve used to date, and I’m using it pretty much every day.

The one thing I most love about the kit is that it really does last. There’s nothing worst than an eyebrow product that slides all over your face, and this one stays put until you decide to wipe it off of your face. It even lasts when I go to the gym, which is quite frankly excellent. Even though it’s semi-permanent, it’s really easy to remove with my daily makeup remover too. As far as lasting 24 hours, I can’t say that I’ve tested it for that long but it definitely lasts from the morning until I take my face off for bed. Top marks.

Christian Eyebrow Kit

I’m also a fan of the stencil situation. They’re a bit tricky to get the hang of, especially for the cack handed like me. If I’m not paying attention, I end up moving the stencil too much and end up looking like a lunatic. However, if you’re a normal person, they’re probably quite easy and really useful. As you can see, the product comes with three different shapes: thin, natural and thick. I’m obviously a big fan of the thick eyebrow, so I’ve only actually used this shape so far.

The brush is also really fabulous. It’s double ended with an angled brush and a wider brush for application. I prefer a square ended eyebrow, so I use the angled brush to fill in the edges once I’ve stencilled on. It’s absolutely excellent quality and it’s probably a brush I’d buy on its own if I could.

ChristianEyebrowKit4

But are there any cons? As I mentioned above, the stencil is a bit tricky and sometimes I end up with horribly wonky brows (but then again, that’s probably just me…). Also, there is a bit of powder fallout which is somewhat annoying – but that is the risk you take when you use powder products I suppose.

If you want to buy the Christian Eyebrow Kit, I’d head over to Amazon. That’s where I picked mine up from, and prices tend to range from £20-£25. Feel Unique actually do it too for £22 – you can find it here. They have the full colour range in one place, which is quite useful! If you want to check out the baffling Christian Eyebrows website, you can right here but be warned, it doesn’t make much sense and it doesn’t look like you can buy from them!

Collection Sheer Loose Powder Review

1

My dear friends and admirers.

Today is a momentous day. NAY. Today is the day that history was made. Today, I am writing to tell you that loose powder is great. No more will we think ‘pahaha loose powder is for my nan and her shiny mate Mildred’. No more will we breeze past the loose powder products in disgust. I am here to tell you that this loose powder has changed my life.

Practically my entire life has been plagued by my shiny face. And I don’t mean shiny in a cute dewy way. I mean full blown you-could-use-my-face-to-find-ships-lost-at-sea shiny. Since learning to apply makeup like a vaguely normal person and eschewing blue eyeliner with a firm hand, I’ve always used powder. I know face powder isn’t for everyone, but is an absolute essential in my makeup bag. I also like a heavy duty foundation, so a nice dusting of powder helps to set my makeup excellently.

I’ve used quite a few different powders and my usual tends to be Rimmel’s Stay Matte pressed powder because it’s cheap and safe. I’ve used Bourjois Radiance Powder too – which I liked but wasn’t the best at keeping my face matte all day. I’ve also used Collection pressed powder pretty frequently – but never used their Sheer Loose Powder.

2

I grabbed it the other day because I needed a translucent powder, of which there were none in the pressed powder section. How I wish I had grabbed it sooner. If you take anything from this review, it should be this: this is the best powder ever and I strongly encourage that you go and buy it – and proceed to be happy in all areas of your life.

My main points of happiness with the Sheer Loose Powder is this:

  • It smells like my mum. This sounds weird, but I’m pretty sure my mum uses this powder and it reminds me of her. My mother is a lovely, tiny, neat woman who always has an organised handbag – so this is a big positive for me and takes me back to the days where I sniffed her face. I’m sure there must have been at least one day I did this for a laugh.
  • It keeps my face matte all day. This is unheard of. I always always always have to powder at least once a day, especially when I’m at work. The only time I didn’t have to powder was when I was using Dermalogica’s Skin Perfect Primer (amazing btw). I don’t know what wizardry is in this powder, but it keeps my skin looking relatively normal for 9+ hours – without touching up.
  • It sets my makeup well. There’s no need to expand on this really, but it does a good job of making sure everything stays where it should and things don’t go wandering about my head.
  • It’s not heavy. I always thought that loose powder would be super heavy and rubbish. I don’t think that this is at all – it feels light on my skin.
  • It’s cheap. It genuinely costs £2.99, no joke. I don’t know how either, I imagine that the employees at Collection are related to Gandalf.

gandalf_526

As with any product, there are a few downsides too. I will put these in bullet point form too, because apparently that is what I do now.

  • I find the sieve annoying.
  • I hate the applicator pad. No one uses applicator pads.

I really don’t think I’ll be using another powder again (unless someone decides to treat me to a nice MAC Mineralise Powder). I really do love this though. Snaps for you Collection, I am adding this to the list of excellent and underrated products you do.

What about you? Have you tried this powder before? What do you think?

MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick Review: Sensual Sparks

Why hi there,

Today I am bringing you some exciting news. I actually won a Dave Lackie competition on Friday (don’t follow Dave? Get with the pic). I never win anything and I may have launched myself across the room shouting “THE UNIVERSE IS MINE”. It turned out that my fabulous prize was a MAC lipstick and Aerin Lauder’s new perfume, Gardenia Rattan. Since I don’t agree with reviewing perfumes online (until there is some kind of ‘scratch and sniff’ screen function), I thought that I’d give you a super fun MAC lipstick review. Because we love MAC here at Stylingo. With the fiery passion of girls who have had an unfortunate bonfire incident.

MAC2

MAC3

The MAC lipstick I received (it came in literally 2 days. From Canada. How?!) was their Amplified Creme Lipstick. For those of you who don’t know, this lipstick finish is one of their most moisturisng and leaves quite a glossy result. I tend to prefer lipsticks that are a lot more moisturising, and this one definitely fits the bill well. As you can see from the swatch as well, it is quite pigmented and you don’t need loads and loads of layers for a good colour.

MAC4

MAC5

with flash / without flash

Which brings us nicely onto the colour. It’s a lovely nude, which is actually quite a lot darker than I usually wear (definitely part of the I-don’t-want-you-to-see-my-lips gang). Saying that, it has a marvy caramel/honey coloured pigment that I love – it’s called Sensual Sparks for those who want to hunt for it. I think it goes quite nicely with my new ginger head and I see myself getting some excellent everyday wear out of it. Really pleased with bells on!

And of course, where would a MAC lipstick review be without a mention of the smell? It smells like vanilla/caramel and I am seriously tempted to take a bite out of it to see if it tastes as good as it smells. Someone needs to invent a sweet that tastes like this lipstick smells.

Big thank you to Dave Lackie for sending these fabulous items, I’m so excited to wear this lipstick every day of my life and I am very upset that one day it will run out.

What do you think of this shade? What’s your favey MAC lipstick?

Seventeen Instant Glow Cream Bronzer | Review

DSCN4103If you read our blog regularly then you might know that Seventeen are one of our favey brands of the past year, after seriously upping their game following their re-brand and a release of a plethora of bangin’ new products (you can check out all of our Seventeen reviews by clicking here if you so wish). During a recent Boots trip I was hugely excited, then, to see a couple of new releases. In fact, I might even have done a bit of an excited dance right there and then in the aisle.

I picked up the Instant Glow Cream Bronzer, a contouring product ‘for face and décolletage’ (ooer).

DSCN4104It might look a bit daunting in the palette, but rest assured that the bronzer’s actually very lightweight upon first application, so the fact that it only comes in one shade shouldn’t be an issue for paler girls out there. It’s also buildable for when you’ve got more of a tan, and never feels too heavy or remotely greasy despite its cream texture.

DSCN4112The best thing about the product is its blendability. When you use powder bronzers to contour with, it’s easy to put far too much on and end up buffing away like a lunatic to avoid looking too Snog Marry Avoid-y. The cream formula is much, much, MUCH easier to work with, blending with foundation and concealer like an absolute dream. I’ve been applying with my fingers and then blending with my Real Techniques Beauty Blender, but you can do whatever you like because it’s your life and I’m not here to tell you how to live it.

1689188_10152596775342786_1408801181_nHere’s a terrible iPhone snap to give you a vague idea of how the bronzer looks under the cheekbones and down the side of the nose. Decided to leave the décolletage out of it; it’s only Wednesday after all.

Overall I’m madly in love with this product, and it’s another roaring success for Seventeen. At only £4.99 it’s a downright bargain, and Seventeen also have a 3 for 2 offer on at the moment so you should make this a staple of your makeup bag immediately. You can pick it up online here or get off your lazy bum bums and go into your nearest Boots store.

Until next time, ratbags.

Have any of you tried the Instant Glow Cream Bronzer yet? What are your thoughts?

Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balms | Swatches & Review

Revlon 1Up until now, the chubby lip crayon craze had passed me by. In the past I’ve found lip crayons to be dragging, drying and unforgiving on any but the smoothest lips, and so I wasn’t overly excited when I first heart about Revlon’s newest releases, the ColorBurst Matte Balms.

Then I read a few rave reviews on them and my arm was twisted, so when Lauren and I headed to Boots on payday last week (always a dangerous business) we couldn’t resist swatching a few. Swatching led to buying one each. Buying one each then led to me going back the following day to buy another. I warn you in advance: these crayons are addictive.

Revlon 3 Revlon 5The ColorBurst Matte Balms are supposed to be unique in the sense that they provide a pigmented, matte finish but with all of the moisture of a balm due to a triple complex of Shea, Mango and Coconut Butter.  Moisture and matte are not two words that usually go side by side, so I was dubious about the claims. But you know what? The hype is fully true.

Revlon 2The crayons go on extremely smoothly, with a light peppermint smell that makes them feel even more balm-like. From the first swipe they’re extremely pigmented, but the smoothness of the formula means that you can also continue to build up for a stronger look.

Once on, they feel really nourishing on the lips, and not at all cakey or dry like other matte products tend to. The finish is, as promised, velvety and matte.

Revlon 9

Revlon 10

I’m absolutely in love with my first shade, Shameless; it’s a strong purple which is perfect for a dramatic look at this time of year. The second and third shades are both brilliant everyday colours, with Elsuive being a light blue-toned pink and Sultry being a darker – but totally wearable – brownish-red.

I’ve found the wear time of my two shades (Shameless and Elusive) to be a good few hours. Because of the formula, they do transfer onto glasses and whatnot quite easily – but when the colour does fade, it seems to do so evenly, without that dreaded ‘unintentional lipliner’ look you can get from other matte lipsticks.

Overall, I don’t think I can stress enough how much ABSOLUTELY LOVE THESE PRODUCTS. They’ve completely changed my opinion on lip crayons, and I’m now gagging to try out the Lacquer finishes too. At £7.99, they’re unfortunately not the cheapest lip products out there – but the quality is, in my opinion, brilliant and so well worth the price of two less fantastic lipsticks from a cheaper brand.

Have any of you tried the ColorBurst Matte Balms yet? What do you think?

GOSH Eyebrow Kit Review

Hi huns.

Instead of watching the CBB final like everyone else in the world, I’m lurking around in bed and blogging. Because that’s just how dedicated I am (plus, Liz annoys me and I have a duvet).

On my eternal bid to find the perfect eyebrow kit, I went and bought myself another one (and another one after that…). I’ve heard some good reviews about the GOSH Eyebrow Kit, so I thought I’d give it a whirl and so on and so forth. If you’re interested in checking out my other eyebrow product reviews, read my Sleek Brow Kit review, Barry M Brow Pen Review and MUA Eyebrow Kit review. I’ve also recently bought the Christian eyebrow powder and stencils (and re-bought the Sleek palette), so expect a review in the next week or so!

DSCN4055

DSCN4057

On that note, I think I need to go to eyebrow products anonymous.

Anywho, my eyebrow needs are slightly different to the average human so I think I need to make a little disclaimer. I have blonde brows that have no definition whatsoever. In a dark light, I resemble Voldemort. As a matter of fact, in broad daylight people often mistake me for the Dark Lord and shout “Expelliarmus” willy nilly. So, I tend to need a product that I can literally draw an eyebrow on, rather than simply fill in.

DSCN4064

The only one that I’ve found do this properly as an eyebrow kit specifically is the Sleek palette. Eyebrow pencils always work fine, but where’s the fun in an eyebrow pencil I ask you? I’ve liked other products, but the brushes that come a long with them have been below par.

And unfortunately, that’s my one and only bug bear with the GOSH palette. And that’s not to say that the brush isn’t good quality, because it is. In fact, it’s one of the best quality palette brushes I’ve come across in a while. However, it’s slightly too thick for me to work with and I need something that gives a bit more precision. The brush also has one of those weird sponge brushes, which I’m sure no one has ever used ever.

DSCN4061

Other than that, this is a fantastic little kit. The three powder shades are workable for most different complexions and their pigmentation is good. They’re also really buildable, so you can layer on to achieve however dark you want your brows. The gel/wax is also good for sweeping in any strays, so no complaints there. I still find it a bit weird how one kit has 3 different shades (sensible? I think not), but it has actually proved quite useful since dying my hair ginger and my dark brown eyebrow products make me look like a silly Paloma Faith.

DSCN4062

In terms of staying power, this bad boy has the same amount as Beyonce and Jay Z’s beautiful relationship (i.e. loads). There were no eyebrows-wandering-around-my-face incidents and they still looked excellent at the end of a busy day drinking tea and moaning about the state of society at the office. Top marks GOSH.

You can buy this eyebrow kit for £8.49 and it comes with a nice little mirror, meaning you can alarm yourself throughout the day by looking at your face and/or great eyebrows.

I’m really looking forward to trying some more GOSH products, especially if they’re all as fabby and fantastic as this magician’s pot.

Maybelline Falsies Big Eyes Mascara | Review

Big Eyes 1If you read this blog regularly then you may know that nothing gets my pulse racing quite like a new mascara (I know, I know – some call me an adrenaline junkie but I just won’t stop). Although I only recently re-purchased my beloved Benefit’s They’re Real (my review of which you can read here), a few new releases lately had piqued my interest. One was L’Oreal’s Miss Manga, which I was dangerously close to trying out until I saw the advert for Maybelline’s offering.

Maybelline Falsies Big Eyes claims to be quite the revolutionary piece of makeup, giving us “360 degrees of lash glam volume” with its double ended mascara wand. The idea is that our bottom lashes are different beasts to our top lashes, and so deserve a separate brush to properly catch each eyelash.

Big Eyes 4This was a concept I wholeheartedly supported; how many times have we poked ourselves viciously in the eye with a fat mascara wand as we attempt to delicately wiggle it down our bottom lashes? Too many, ladies, TOO MANY TIMES. I know Clinique has a special Bottom Lash Mascara but I for one can’t quite bring myself to spend £12 on a product that can only be used on half of my eye; so Maybelline offering 2 brushes in 1 product was much more up my street.

So, does it deliver on its grand problem-solving promises? The answer: ehhhh kinda.

Big Eyes 2Firstly we’ll talk about the Upper Lashes wand. It’s not my usual wand of choice, being a fibre brush whereas I’m much of a plastic fantastic kind of girl. It’s also one of those wands that has twists in it for what appears to be no good reason. I like the brushes to be quite straight and even so that I can work all the magic with my fancy hand wiggles and so on. Wands like this never really seem to catch my lashes where they’re supposed to, and can distribute product too unevenly.

And then there is my main bugbear with this mascara. The length of the wand itself. Just look at it. The decision to make the wand double ended and have the product in both the lids was, in my opinion, the wrong one. It means you have to manouvre all of the bulky packaging while applying the mascara, giving you much less control than when you have a longer wand to play with. It also might bash off your nose and lead to you smearing mascara over your cheek if you’re a bit, er, like me…

Big Eyes 3The Lower Lashes wand, however, IS really good for the job. A nice, simple brush, it’s got much smaller fibres to properly coat the finer hairs on the bottom. I’ll go as far as to put my lady balls on the line here and say that it’s better at catching the lower lashes than They’re Real – and that’s a big claim for me to make.

Big Eyes 7I think the results photo here shows perfectly my overall issue with the mascara. Bottom lashes = PERFECTO. Top lashes = PERFECT-NO (sorry, that was the best I could do). As you can see, the top wand just didn’t work for me and resulted in uneven distribution as well as my inner lashes being missed due to the cumbersome wand issue.

In terms of formula, I think the mascara does fairly well. It lasts nicely and doesn’t seem to smudge. It’s also a welcome change, after using the very wet and stubborn Lash Vegas and They’re Real recently, to have a mascara that actually comes off with a face wipe and doesn’t leave me looking like a panda until I’ve quadruple-cleansed.

Overall, my thoughts are that Maybelline are onto a winner in terms of concept, but didn’t quite get it right with the upper wand. I’m sure other people would be able to manouvre the upper brush much better than me, but personally I don’t think I’ll get much more use from it. The bottom lash wand is an absolute god send though, and I think I’ll continue to use this alongside my normal mascara to better complete my look.

Have any of you tried this mascara yet? What do you think?
