If there’s one thing you may have noticed about me as a blogger, it’s that I’m really slow at jumping on bandwagons (I still don’t even own any Naked palettes. I KNOW). True to form, despite bloggers raving about the brand for many months, I only placed my first Freedom Makeup order a couple of weeks ago. I picked up a couple of things that I’ll no doubt be reviewing soon, but the first thing in my basket was the Pro Bare lipstick collection.
The Freedom lipsticks are only £1, but they have a couple of collections available where you can buy 5 lipsticks for £4. Yes, less than £1 per lipstick..! Pick those jaws off the floors. There’s a pink collection and a red collection, but I was of course drawn to the collection of nude shades. Nude lips are my absolute favourite, and I get through my beloved MAC Creme D’Nude at an alarming rate, so I was excited to try out some cheaper options for my everyday lip. The first thing I’ll mention is that I wasn’t too impressed by the selection of hues. I was hoping a collection like this would include some variety, but a few of them are so samey that they actually just look, er, exactly the same. The majority of them are also quite dark, brownish-nudes, whereas I’m a fan of lighter shades and pink-toned nudes. In short, there is definitely no dupe for my Creme D’Nude in here.
My issues with the colours could have been overlooked if the formula had been amazing, but unfortunately I was also left a bit underwhelmed on that point. When I applied these, they just felt a bit plastic-y and cheap, and it also took quite a few swipes to get a decent transfer of colour on the lips. On the plus side, they do feel pretty moisturising, and would probably be suited to someone looking for more of a sheer effect.
For the price, you really can’t complain too much about the Freedom Pro Bare Lipstick Collection as it’s amazing value for money. For me personally though, I think I would rather save for a more expensive lipstick that gets the job done in one sweep.
Have any of you tried Freedom Makeup yet? Let me know what you think in the comments!
too bad they didnt impress too much, but I guess for the price…

Exactly, definitely worth trying for the price! But I don’t think I’ll pick up any more… xx
I love all these shades. So pretty.

Glad you like them 🙂 xx
That’s the only thing with cheaper lipsticks, they tend to be rubbish! I really want to try the MUR Matte lippies tho.

It does seem to be a bit of a common theme! I’ve had some decent ones from MUA in the past, but it’s rare xx
I like the first color, the pink one, the best~! I’ve never seen these lipsticks before, but they look nice <33

It’s definitely pink rather than nude, which was one thing that annoyed me actually haha! 🙂 xx
Got to say I wasn’t expecting them to be only a pound each when I first saw the photo, I thought they were from an expensive brand! The colours do look very similar, and I can imagine they feel quite plastic and not very good… I might look into getting one of them just to try out!

Packaging wise they don’t look super cheap, so Freedom have definitely done well there! Let me know if you try them, would love to know what you think 🙂 xx
I hadn’t even heard of this brand before, so I guess I’m even more behind!
It’s too bad they didn’t work out, I was getting excited about the low price and pretty packaging! I think if you’re looking for more colors, I really like Revlon Color Burst – they’re quite affordable and easy to apply as well!

Haha that makes me feel a bit better then 😉 Ahh I love Revlon lip products, so will have to give that a go! xx
Thanks for your comment about the perversion mascara on my blog – http://www.imitationisthegreatestformofflattery.blogpot.co.uk. Have you tried Benefit ‘They’re Real mascara for a bigger look?
Yes, I love They’re Real! It’s one of my go-to mascaras 🙂 xx
I love the look of them and they are super cheap, plus I am on such a tight budget at the moment that I can’t really complain haha xxx
I think the browner shades would really suit your colourings Jess! But not for me I’m afraid 🙂 xx
i tend to prefer high end lipsticks – you pay a little bit extra but the quality is amazing! x
I agree, I think I’ll be sticking to MAC from now on 🙂 xx
