The MK bag still getting pride of place | Mug motivation from Primark | What comes after pinathree? Pinafore |Standard monochrome for a night out in Cambridge | Fresh claws | Congratulations flowers (see below!) | Fuel for a busy day shopping at Merry Hill | Casual ootd | TK Maxx stationery… be still my beating heart
Aloha everyone! Don’t let all of these cosy ‘just lounging around with my tea and flowers lol’ photos fool you – March was actually a really busy and exciting month for me. First of all, at the start of the month I was invited back to my old uni (the University of Birmingham, if you were wondering) to take part in a workshop about blogging. And no, not to finally learn how to make my own blog less rubbish, but to give a TALK and then answer QUESTIONS, from real-life STUDENTS who would be taking advice from ME.
!!!!!!!!
I was really flattered to be even be asked to take part (yes, I am still toying with the idea that they might have sent me the invitation by mistake) and although public speaking is up there on the list of Things I’m Awful At and Would Rather Avoid, I’m happy with how the talk and Q&A panel went all in all. I mean, I managed to get through it without being sick in my handbag. Success, riiiight?
And then secondly, March was also the month that I got myself a new job! People who have read this blog for a while may remember that around eighteen months ago, I landed my “dream job” at a beauty brand. I didn’t talk about it too much afterwards, but to cut a long story short, I soon realised that this dream job wasn’t really as dreamy as I had thought, and after six months I ended up handing my notice in. Over the last 12 months I did a mix of freelance self-employed shizz (which I hated – turns out I actually like being around people, who’d have thought?!) and a couple of temporary contracts at non-beauty companies. This blog obviously gave me a creative outlet and a way to still be involved in the fashion/beauty industries, but I always knew that my aim was to get a position at a beauty brand again. And lo and behold, I’ve found one!
!!!!!!!!
I had two interviews and was offered the job all within about 10 days, so it was a very antsy time but I am SO happy with the outcome. I start my new job as Social Media and Content Exec on Monday, so if you follow me on Twitter or Instagram (@StylingoUK on both for those of you who can’t be bovvered to click the links) then expect some frantic tweets and photos of my panicked face on Sunday night.
Overall, March left me feeling very lucky and blessed and grateful and every other positive emotion going. Thank you, and good night.
All of these photos were taken from my Instagram, and if you’d like to follow me on there then you can find me at @StylingoUK. Let me know in the comments what you’ve all been up to this month!
Well done! I’m hideously jealous of your new job. It sounds fab, and sounds exactly what I’m slaving away at university to achieve. As for the talk at Birmingham Uni, that personally sounds like hell, but you’ll be fab!
Thanks lovely, you’ll get there after graduating, don’t worry 🙂 xx
Congratulations on the new job!! I’m delighted for you! xx

Thank you! And glad you like the claws haha xx
Congratulations on your new job and I hope it turns out the way you imagine it to be. I know how hard it would be to work at a job you don’t like, I am doing that at the moment and it makes me unhappy! Taking part in a workshop and answering questions sound good and kinda scary, good to hear that you did a good job 🙂 So good luck at your first day at your new job tomorrow 🙂 x

Eek congratulations on the new job my love! I can imagine how it feels when you think you’ve got your dream job and it doesn’t quite go to plan. Main thing is, you are happy now! I started my new job on Tuesday so I totally feel you, I was nervous but it’s definitely something you overcome with time! Good Luck!

Ah congratulations on your new job, I hope your first day went well! It’s so amazing you were invited back to your Uni to give a talk about blogging! I’m absolutely terrified of public speaking but I’m so glad it went smoothly! Also, isn’t TKMaxx the best place for stationary? I could spend so much money on notebooks in there!
