We live in a crazy world, ladies and gents, and I would say that the craziest thing in this world – aside from the fact that Kit Harrington has not yet noticed me as his soulmate (fix up Jon Snow!) – is fashion. The fact is that sometimes following fashion means you have to wear things that you think make you look like you belong in some sort of asylum. Oh sure, it would be great if pretty dresses and nice bags were always the height of fashion so we could parade around looking normal, but then how would we confuse elderly relatives?
So one of the oddest trends stealing the show this season is the ugly shoe. Yes, I do believe that is the official fashion name. Characterised by a cleated sole, numerous straps and buckles and preferably a bit of height, these are definitely the ‘it’ shoe of S/S14. Whether you opt for platform, flatform, jelly, canvas, velcro or even holographic versions, make sure you keep it as clunky and cumbersome as possible. You win extra style points the more it looks like you might have raided a Spice Girls dressing up box.
Here are a few of my favourite ugly shoes from around the ‘net:
1. eBay / 2. Topshop / 3. New Look / 4. River Island / 5. eBay / 6. Pretty Little Thing
And just in case you think I am actually mocking this trend, I want you to know that I am 100% not. Those ones in the top photos are my own little babies – Primark for a superbly purse-friendly £14, in case you were wondering.
What do you all think go this trend, love it or hate it?

I am definitely not on board with ugly shoes this season, I mean some of the ones you picked are actually quite cute, but BIRKENSTOCKS. REALLY? Haha.
But I do get annoyed with myself sometimes for dressing a bit too “safe”. I love that fashion can sometimes be crazy, and I want to look back on pictures of myself in 20 years time and say “WHAT was I THINKING?!” As opposed to, “oh I look nice”.
Do you get me?! Haha. xxxx

I do worry that we’re only one step away from Crocs being okay! I 100% know what you mean though, especially when it comes to important occasions like weddings/parties I always decide to play it safe rather than look back in horror in 10 years haha – but maybe I need more of those moments in my life! xx
Although these look really cool, I just can’t imagine myself in them! But I do love the chunky sole so I might get one that has less straps like the first one pictured (:

That’s how I felt at first but now I love clomping about in mine haha! Let me know if you give them a go, I’m sure you’d look brilliant 🙂 xx
I am completely in love with this trend, I’m not going to lie! The uglier and chunkier the shoes are, the more I seem to want them. I’m not always sure how to style them, but I find them really flattering on my legs (is that weird…?)

Haha this is how I’ve become, now I want every vile colour going! I weirdly agree though, I sort of think the chunkier the shoe the skinnier the leg looks – maybe? (Let’s tell ourselves that’s the case anyway) xx
Despite their name I am actually loving this trend! Not practical though when it pours down like it has today and all my fashionable shoes are sandals.

Oooof so true, they’re definitely not great for these April showers aha! Glad I’m not the only one loving the uggers trend though 🙂 xx
I love this trend SO much I just haven’t fully embraced it yet, my favourites are the baby pink & holographic ones, I will have to try and incorporate them into an outfit xxx
Ahh you would look absolutely amazing in them! I definitely think you may as well commit to the trend and go as OTT as possible 😉 xx
The uglier the better :’)
Hehe I love this post, I’m known for my obsession with ‘ugly’ shoes!

Such a bargain right, I was VERY pleased to find them in my size! Haha glad I’m not alone in my Jon obsession 😉 xx
I must admit I am not very much into this trend. I see ugly shoes are hyped over the internet but I think I would pass.
I think it’s definitely a love it or hate it trend! 🙂 xx
