Ladies, gents and all woodland creatures, there is a new subscription box in town. Now, before you all click away in boredom, expecting to see nothing but the skincare samples and unflattering lipstick shades that usually frequent beauty subscription boxes, I say wait right there – for this is not a beauty subscription box at all. This is a fashion subscription box. A vintage fashion subscription box at that. Oh yeah, it all just got pretty cool up in herre.
Style By Portobello is the first monthly box of its kind, with each item sourced from the famous Portobello Market in Notting Hill and delivered straight to your door. It’s ideal for vintage lovers who don’t get to make it down to London very often, or just those of us who love the idea of adding quirky pieces to our wardrobe (and feeling a bit like we’re getting a present at the same time). The true beauty of this over other subscription boxes is that every box is going to be unique – you could find some jewellery, a scarf or a bag, but whatever it is, you’ll have a one of a kind vintage piece.
So, what did I receive in my very own ‘Bello box’ that I was kindly sent this month?
Of course my inner magpie flapped its wings with birdy delight at this total bah-bling-bah-bling clutch bag. The beaded necklace is also very cute and wearable (and perfect for summer), and I don’t think anything else needs to be said other than DOG. BROOCH.
All in all, I’m really impressed with the concept of this box and think it’s a lovely, kitsch idea. Each monthly box costs £35 (which is definitely pricey compared to other subscription boxes, but remember that these aren’t perfume samples) and can be bought via the Style By Portobello website. You can also take a look at their gallery to see what’s been featured in previous Bello boxes.
What do you all think of this concept? Let us know in the comments below!
