Outfit of the Day: ASOS Swing Dress & Chunky Sandals

OOTD 15th July Collage 1Dress: ASOS Petite / Chain: eBay / Shoes: Primark

Hello you super sexy people. Following on from Lauren’s ‘blogger tips’ post yesterday on the mystery that is Do-Follow and No-Follow Links I’m back today with the much more superficial stuff, i.e. here’s me in a pretty dress with legs like Wotsits (it’s better to be orange than pale, am I right or am I RIGHT?) (Tumbleweed…)

I recently placed a pretty hefty order with ASOS after realising that I have zero clothes I actually wanted to wear in public, and this dress is one of the bargains that I managed to pick up from the sale. How much did I pay? Just TEN ENGLISH POUNDS. Sassy.

OOTD 15th July Collage 2These Primark sandals have NOT been off my feet since I bought them weeks ago, which yes may be disgusting, but can you really blame me when they’re so absolutely perfect? I’m almost tempted to buy another pair for when these inevitably fall apart, but I dunno if that’s the behaviour of a straight up lunatic. Also, how cute is this bracelet that my sister picked me up from her holibobs? I think it’s meant to ward off bad luck, which I could definitely do with lately after smashing my hallway mirror to smithereens. I know, what am I like.

What do you all think of this outfit? Let me know in the comments below!

It’s common knowledge that we don’t really go to fancy events. In fact, the last time we actually looked like sophisticated women in nice dresses was probably at our respective christenings. Which is why, when we heard about this jazzy 888sport competition to win 2 tickets to the races AND £100 to win an outfit, we had to get involved (I MEAN WHY WOULD YOU NOT). All you have to do is create a college or style an outfit of what you would wear to any Ladies Day races this year to be in with a chance of winning

I’ve never actually been to the races before, so I have to base my outfit on what I have seen on other blogs/in mags. I’m guessing you have to wear quite a nice dress and not look like too much of a slag basically.

I absolutely adore this ASOS dress, it is so so nice. I usually hate drop waist dresses, but this one isn’t too horrible and both the colour and print is perfect. I decided to accessorise with white shoes and a white feathered fascinator, because if you can’t wear a fascinator to Ladies’ Day, when can you? As a gal who loves statement necklaces, I went for this pretty New Look piece and of course, a pale pink lippy to complete the pastel theme.

If you’ve entered too, we’d love to see your entry!!

Style Inspo: Summer Wedding Outfit Ideas

Hello fellow idiots,

It seems that I have finally grown up into a grown woman. Pass me a Sunday afternoon of Agatha Christie’s Poirot, a glass of gin and a few cats (why lie, I always liked these things). But aside from my imminent old lady behaviour, I’m actually starting to go to weddings regularly in the summer. If that’s not a sign of being in your 20s, I don’t know what is.

While this is all very well and its nice to celebrate mates’ everlasting love and everything, I am very tired of deciding what to wear to the damn things.

I don’t know about you hunnys, but I am the type of girl who sells pretty much all of my clothes right after I’ve worn them (ever Insta’d in the same outfit twice, you get me) so I virtually NEVER have anything nice to wear ever. Which means I always have to buy new outfits, which also means that I have to plan these silly things. And wedding outfits are the worst to plan. You don’t want to look like a hoochie mama, but you also don’t want to look like a massive snore who has no mates. So with the couple of weddings I’ve got to drag myself to this summer, here are a few wedding outfit ideas for you (and me) to feast your eyes on.

What do you think gals?

I would greatly appreciate your input, because I seriously need some bangin’ outfits to wear this summer! If you have any wedding outfit ideas posts too, then please leave them in the comments below so that I can have a massive perv and probably steal your ideas.

Highstreet Beef: Things I don’t Love

At the moment, I am slightly consumed by rage. I’m not too sure what my problem is, but I have just been an angry, angry person recently. In fact, when Claire and I drove home today, I flipped someone off. Granted, they did cut us off BUT still. There was no real need.

So, in the interest of channelling my inner rage into something positive (kind of), I have decided to create a post of current highstreet bits and bobs that I think are downright silly. Now, I’m the type of girl who is happy to embrace even the stupidest of trends (see jelly shoes), but there is a strong, fashiony line for me. And here are the highstreet nonsense items that I just plain don’t like.

Drop Waist Dresses

Drop Waist

Topshop Drop Waist Jersey Tunic | ASOS Gingham Drop Waist Dress | Topshop Bonded Drop Waist Tunic

Drop waist dresses are a huge bug bear of mine. In theory, I should like them. They’re a close cousin to the skater dress, which I love with the fiery passion of an ice skating goddess. But, they’re just so wrong in so many ways. Unless you are a willowy beautiful person, they will look lovely on you. But if you are a short, slightly dumpy person like I am, they will more than make you look like a potato. NO THANK YOU. Also, the word drop waist makes me think of some kind of accidental toilet problem in your trousers.

CulottesCUlottes

Another stressful garment on the highstreet that causes me deep amounts of pain. Like drop waisted dresses, they look lovely on tall willowy ladies, but bloody stupid on me. In fact, they make me look at least 10 times worse than a certain Game of Thrones character who got his head violently squashed. I just don’t really understand how long, billowy shorts are supposed to look normal on a 5ft girl. At all. And I’m very unsure about what shoes anyone would wear with them.

ASOS Culottes | Topshop Palm Print Culottes | Boohoo Butterfly Print Culottes

Knee Length Gladiator Sandals

Sandals

Boohoo Cage Leg Gladiators | Missguided Cage Gladiator Sandals | Carvela Tall Gladiator Sandals

MORE SHORT GIRL PROBLEMS. I say that these are knee length, but on me they would basically be thigh length. And they would genuinely make me look like the most ridiculous person in the whole entire world. In fact, I can’t think of anything less flattering on my ham legs. Frankly, these would be an absolute disaster. I hate them. Although that’s mostly because I can’t pull them off. I have seen many a beautiful fashion bloggers wearing them and looking fierce. But not me. Plus, Claire just made the valid point that they look a little bit like when you by a joint of string wrapped beef.

So anywho, these are my LEAST favourite things on the highstreet at the moment. Reading back, I think most of my issues with them are actually because I am short, rather than because they are horrible. But ya know. That’s that.

The Best of the Highstreet: Palm Tree Prints

Good evening dear pals,

I have a confession to make. I have developed an unhealthy obsession with palm trees. Don’t ask me how, don’t ask me why but there it is. I have been desperately searching for some kind of ‘palm tree print anonymous’ groups but apparently they don’t exist. If there are any fashion bloggers out there who would like to create a palm tree print obsessed group, I would be more up for that than Miley Cyrus is for twerking and/or being a lunatic.

So, feeding my obsession and also giving myself an excuse for yet more shopping, I have been perusing the old internet and found some of the best palm tree prints on the line. You are all welcome, you stunners. Don’t blame me if your bank rings you in palm tree print anger.

I don’t know about you all, but I love that New Look cami especially, it’s beauuutiful. I’m also keen for the New Look clutch bag, it is more than jazzy.

Is anyone else mega keen for palm tree print at the moment? The only thing that I am sad about is the fact that I’m not off anywhere on holiday again this year to fully take advantage of these tropical print beauties. I’m going to have to force Claire to buy loads of these so that I can live through her when she goes away later on in the summer. I’m pretty sure she won’t mind.

What do you lovely ladies think? Are you a palm print fan orrrrrr?

How To Wear SS14 The Holographic Trend

I love shiny things. In fact, things that involve glitter, metallic delightfulness or just a bit of shine makes me infinitely happy. I’m of the opinion that pretty much every girl feels the same too (and if not, why not you lunatic?). So, giving thanks to the fashion gods and so on and so forth, we have the holographic trend to keep our magpie tendancies in check.

But lets be honest, wearing a load of shiny silver material isn’t the most flattering thing (unless you are Kendal Jenner for example) and it is potentially really the most difficult trend ever. While I would like to wear a holographic dress, I’m pretty sure a tiny size 12 disco ball lumbering toward people would both alarm and distress the general public. In fact, I’m pretty sure David Cameron would deport me back to the motherland.

With that in mind, here are some easy options for incoporating the holographic trend into your wardrobe. And while the easiest way would be to whack a holographic bag or pair of shoes onto your outfit, there are actually loads of different holographic things you can put on your body to feel awesome.

Missguided Holographic Platform Sandals | ASOS Metallic Hologram Hoodie | Nasty Gal Hologram Phone Case | Motel Holographic Backpack | Holographic Jeffery Campbells | 90s Holographic Skull Choker

If you’re keen, Topshop also have some holographic nail wraps, which I forgot to put on this collage but they look SUUUUPER AWESOME.

So my dear shiny friends, I hope that these have inspired you to become a beautiful disco ball. Claire and I both agree that we would give up our first born children for those Jeffery Campbells, without question. They are incredible.

It’s actually quite hard to put shiny things with anything other than black, but I recently wore my holographic bag with a bright orange dress…so I think the key is to be brave and just embrace the wildness. If you want to be a disco ball, just be a disco ball. PREACH.

Outfit of the Day: Lion Print Smock Dress

Fashion Blogger Smock DressLion Print Smock Dress: ASOS / Shoes: eBay / Necklace: Primark

I love lions. I love dresses. So what’s not to love about this lion print dress?!

I’d been after a smock dress for a while now, though I wasn’t really sure whether they’d suit me seeing as they have a tendancy to be a bit swampy and I’m approximately the size of a Borrower. ASOS always have a good selection of them in though, and  once I saw this printed version I fell in love and decided to bite the bullet and try it out.

Fashion Blogger Smock DressI’ve teamed the dress with my new eBay sunglasses which I LOVE with the passion of a thousand men (a thousand passionate men, I hasten to add… a thousand passionate Latin men with stomachs full of tequila). They were only £3.99 and can be nabbed here if you too want to embrace a bit of steampunk eyewear.

So, back to the dress… I decided to size down to a size 6 and let me tell you, it is still bloody massive. I know it’s meant to be loose fitting, but I actually laughed out loud – a genuine, bonfide LOL – at how huge it was when I got it out of the packet. I suppose I should see this is a good thing though, as if we forget to pay our rent and get evicted then at least there’s definitely enough room for me, Lauren and the Bonus Jonas to all live inside my dress. I mean, really…

OOTD 13th April 5It’s a biiiiiiiiiiiiiit ridiculous maybe? I know some girls look amazing in these dresses, but I’m not sure my petite frame can really pull it off. I do adore the lion head print though so I may persevere. OH WHO THE HELL KNOWS.

What do you think of this outfit?

SS14: The Sunglasses Edit

I have to say that I am a big sunglasses fan. Anything that covers the majority of my face is a winner in my eyes. However, I don’t usually seem buy sunglasses, because lets be honest and open with each other. When does it actually get sunny enough to think ‘Good lord, I am blinded by the rays of the sun, let me delve into my handbag and retrieve my eyeball protectors’? Yes I thought so. Virtually never.

This year, however, is the year of the sunglasses. And here are two of my recent purchases/gifts:

SUNNIES

kdfjkldsfklsd

New Look Round Sunglasses | Elsie and Fred Chunky 60s Sunglasses

Sunglasses are definitely not an afterthought anymore, and the right pair can definitely finish an outfit perfectly. But what sort of sunnies should we be buying for SS14 and what beautiful eye protectors are on the highstreet at the moment? These are questions that I am about to answer, mon amie, so don’t you go worrying.

Round sunglasses

Topshop Colour Block Sunglasses | ASOS Handmade Acetate Sunglasses | New Look Frame Sunglasses | Miss Selfridge Pink Round Sunglasses Missguided Baby Pink Round Sunglasses | Elsie and Fred Audrey Round Sunglasses

Round sunglasses are a must if you are planning on being seen in public at some point this summer. Yes, you might feel a bit like a prat and/or like our dear departed John Lennon, but round sunglasses are great. In fact, the rounder the better. NO HALF MEASURES.

Wire Frame Sunglasses

I think the idea with this sunny trend is to channel Harry Potter – i.e. draw a little lightning bolt on your head and pretend everybody is a muggle and I’m pretty sure people will think you are bang on trend.

Tinted Sunglasses

Tinted sunglasses are soooooooooooo 90s and cool I can’t even cope. Think Olsen twins. Think Spicegirls. Think ‘I’m not sure how much this is shielding me from those pesky UV rays but god damn it I look brilliant’.

Anywho, what sunglasses do you want to put on your face this summer?

Outfit of the Day: Asos Midi Bardot

OOTD March 24th Collage 1Dress: Asos / Shoes: New Look / Bag: old / Necklace: Tiffany’s

Hey errybody! So on Saturday night Lauren and I donned our gladrags for a night of good old fashioned violence at a charity boxing event. The dress code was black tie, but we thought we’d look silly in tuxes so opted for dresses instead.

OOTD March 24th Collage 2I picked up this little number from Asos for the pretty good price of £28. I chose the berry colour in case I got splattered in blood (unfortunately I didn’t, boo), but it also comes in navy or a pale pink. Delightful!

What do you all think of this look?

Outfit of the Day: Missguided Mesh Midi Dress

OOTD 12th March CollageDress: Missguided / Shoes: ASOS (old) / Bag: Accessorize

Hello one and all! If you read our post yesterday about the charity fashion event we attended, then you might have noticed that Lauren and I both wore clothes on our bodies, in compliance with society’s expectations of us. Here is a closer look at the clothes that I wore, just in case you were working yourselves up into a feverish frenzy over it all (don’t lie, I know you were).

Unsurprisingly, we both decided to buy our dresses from Missguided – where else? We really do need to start branching out a bit, but damn their reasonable prices and endless selection of party outfits, do we really stand a chance? As it was a sophisticated evening in aid of charity, we both set out with the intention of finding something ‘classy’ to wear. I really don’t know how I managed to translate this in my head into ‘bodycon mesh’, but that happened and I’m not sorry.

OOTD 12th March 4Necklace: Tiffany’s / Rings: Primark / Nails: Barry M in White

I kept my accessories pretty simple with the exception of my much-loved leopard print clutch bag, which was actually a birthday present last year. You can literally fit so much in it; I could probably get Lauren to hop in there if I ever needed to sneak her on a plane or anything.

What do you all think of this outfit? I would love to know in the comments below!
