Okay, I have a confession to make – this is not my outfit today. Today it’s rainy and windy outside and I plan to spend the day in bed, wearing bright pink pyjama bottoms and a hoodie. I wasn’t really sure how much of an interesting OOTD post that would make, so here is one from around a week ago that I forgot to post. View Full Post
Outfit of the Day: Neon Yellow and Acid Wash.
Hello all you spiffing gals and potential alien fashionistas (we’re big on Jupiter according to Google Analytics).
This is just a tiny little OOTD post to give you all a look at some of my favourite bits of clothing at the moment as well as what I wore out for dinner earlier in the week. Because clearly while squeezing myself into Topshop’s acid wash jeans, a small voice said “yeah this is ok Lauren, have a MASSIVE pizza from Pizza Express. You won’t regret it”. SCREW YOU SMALL VOICE. There is no need for you. Go home. You are drunk.
Moving on, these jeans are my all time favourite. I find the super soft jeans by Toppers simply marvy, they fit really well and don’t feel bulky at all (which is something I hate from regular jeans). The only downside is that they don’t last brilliantly long because the material is so thin. Forking out £40 for a new pair every few months is a bit of a kick in the boob. They’re also not the most forgiving in lighter colours, but who the hell cares?! Embrace your shape, wear what you want and say YOU’RE LAME to the haters
I also recently bought this top from Primark and it has been a firm favourite in my wardrobe since then. It’s nothing particularly special but it fits nicely (kind of a baggy boyfriend fit) and the roll sleeves add a bit of interest. The colour is BRILLIANT and on trend, so I feel super snazzy and bright. There’s something about yellow that just makes you feel sunshiney and happy so it ticks the perky boxes for me. It’s also £3.50, so I’m going to invest in a load more next time I’m in town. It would be rude not to right?!
I paired my jeans and tshirt with a pair of cream heels from Forever 21, which are eons old but SO comfortable. I wanted to jazz up the outfit a bit since it was all looking a bit too casual. A leopard clutch and a gold chain and I was ready to go and drink mid-priced cava and munch on polenta chips.
Here is my face too, it was a bit of a nightmare hair situation because I’d put on some raw coconut oil as a mask before showering and didn’t wash it out properly, so my hair was a bit flat and mad. Other than that, this is a pretty standard face/hair situation for me!
Outfit of the Day: Sundress, Spikes and JuJu Jelly Shoes
What on earth is better than new shoes, you ask? Well, my answer is: FREE NEW SHOES. View Full Post
Outfit of the Day: Tie Dye & Treggings
T-Shirt: Maryjane Fashion / Chain: eBay / Treggings & Wedges: Primark
Hey y’all, hope all of your days are going wonderfully and that you’ve all had your daily biscuit. This is just a simple outfit of the day post to show one of my favourite easy outfits at the moment.
I bought these treggings months ago from good ole Primark and wore them over and over again in the first few weeks. I then noticed that they didn’t wash very well (read: I didn’t wash them very well – domestic goddess I ain’t) and had gone a bit bobbly so didn’t really bother with them again. I re-discovered them a couple of weeks ago and found that the condition was nowhere near as bad as I’d imagined – and so they live another day! I’m well aware that they’re hardly the most flattering things for my shape, but I think I’ve explained before my new life philosophy of embracing your natural body shape which for me means saying to the world ‘HEY, HERE ARE MY HIPS, DEAL WITH THEM’. I really do like the treggings in an outfit, they give a slightly smarter look to really casual tops but not in an awkward ‘teacher on sports day’ way.
I got this tee from Maryjane Fashion about a month ago. I love the tie-dye/smudge print, and the dark colours mean it will still be wearable in the colder months. The fit’s nice and loose, but it’s still perfect for tucking in as I’ve done here. I can’t find it on the site anymore, which is a SNORE, but the site has a load of other nice pieces for ridiculously cheap prices. I think this was around the £6 mark, and its surprisingly good quality.
I teamed it with my current favourite gold chain, which everyone has seen me wear about fifty-eight times already. It’s tacky and fabulous and I will not hear a bad word said about it.
Outfit of the Night: Denim Skater Skirt, Crop Top & No Glass Bottles
Over the weekend we had two of our bestest friends from uni come to stay with us in our new house. This of course meant a night out on Saturday, as what better way is there to say ‘hey, we’ve missed you’ than with cocktails and slut dropping?
Anyway, we were completely useless and forgot to get proper OOTN pictures (bad blogger award goes to us). In fact, Lauren’s outfit was hardly featured in any full-length photos at all. But just in case anybody is interested, here is a brief look at what I wore:
Crop top: Primark
Gold chain: eBay
Skater skirt: Topshop
Shoe boots & bag: Primark
(Can you believe that they served me a VK in a plastic glass? Apparently we’re no longer trusted with bottles in Coventry; the risk of us throwing them at each other must be too great.)
It was a really simple outfit but I liked it anyway. If for any reason you felt compelled to recreate the look, then here is how to do it:
Outfits of the Day: Saturday Casual.
Dress: H&M
Jacket: Miss Selfridge
Boots: Dorothy Perkins
Necklace: New Look
Top: Ebay
Shoes: Converse
Watch: Casio
Necklace: Primark
This is a super quick post because Claire and I are off for lunch with our friend who has come to visit from London. We’re nipping into town to get some essentials for tonight (fake eyelashes, tan, wine) before hitting Bella Italia hard with a carb loaded hammer. For your viewing pleasure, these are our outfits today. I’m mixing pastels and leather because that’s just how I roll and Claire is going for the “just a moment, I’m just going to play a game of baseball” look. We spent longer than necessary trying to get our OOTD faces right, Claire just about managed it whereas I look like I hate everyone and life. FYI, I am actually a happy person.
Outfits of the Day: Double Denim & Summer Pastels
HEY THERE HELLO. This is just going to be a quick little Outfit of the Day post. It is, in fact, our first proper OOTD entry that hasn’t involved mirror snaps or pictures where we are happily obscuring our faces. I would like to apologise for a few things:
• The quality of the photos. We are finally going to start using a proper camera (and a tripod – look how serious we have become) so these will improve!
• My awkward photo face. I am awful at having my photo taken, I usually end up doing a creepy smile that is most often found on the faces of sex offenders on Crimewatch. Again, I think that the tripod and practice will make this better over time.
• Our messy floor – no real excuse there though, I’m afraid. We just messy.
Claire
Lace Body: Topshop
Vest: Primark
Gold chain: eBay
Watch: Casio
Lavendar skinny jeans: Primark
Shoes: Converse
I decided to wear quite a summery-coloured outfit today, possibly as a reaction to wearing all black yesterday and nearly boiling in the heat. Before, I never would have dreamed of wearing a pastel pair of jeans as I was convinced they would be the least flattering thing for my shape ever. As you can see, I was incredibly correct about this. BUT I’m going through a new phase where I’m trying to embrace my natural body shape and so getting The Hips (epic enough to deserve capital letters) out in lavender is now something I am just rolling with.
Lauren
Blouse: Missguided
Denim shirt: Primark
Jeans: Topshop
Shoes: New Look
We recently published a post all about double denim where we asked whether you dared to do it. Well, Lauren dared. She says this was a result of me telling her we needed to do an OOTD post and her panicking with the need to wear something interesting – BUT I think it works marvelously. Fun fact: these glittery pumps proceeded to give Lauren huge blisters on our way into work, causing her to stop off and wear her bright (and I mean BRIGHT) pink gym trainers for the rest of the journey. Of course I didn’t laugh. Of course.
My Outfit of the Day and a Fashion Tragedy.
I had a quarter life crisis last week (much like Claire and her strange purple dip-dye phase) and decided to overhaul my general appearance in my eternal quest to become a trendy wendy. This meant dashing to the hairdresser in my lunch break on Friday and carefully explaining that I wanted a fringe cut well above my eyebrows, so that all the effort I spend drawing them on is not wasted. After a disdainful “that’s a bit short isn’t it…’ and my hairdresser deciding not to charge me (probably because she thought it looked horrible and I was upset by it. I wasn’t, I love it and I got a free haircut), my new look is on its way to being complete. For those of you who follow us on Instragram, you may have seen a picture but here is the final result anyway:
I’m also lying slightly when I say outfit of the day because this was actually my outfit on Saturday. However, I generally look slightly trampy at work because I get ready at 6am and forget how to dress myself, so there will rarely be a good outfit post here. Anywhoo, this was my favourite outfit from the weekend (the rest of the time was spent in a tshirt with a strange Jamaican man on it) and I wore it to do a spot of shopping in Birmingham.
Neon skirt: H&M
Lace top: Next
Box bag: Primark (its hilariously old so I wont even attempt a link)
Black boots: Dorothy Perkins
I also have to share with you all possibly the worst fash trag (also know as a fashion tragedy) that has happened to me yet. On my shopping ventures on Saturday, I bought these absolute stunners from New Look. I’m a big fan of New Look heels in general (although I don’t love their clothes) and these ones are bang on the mark in every single way. I can’t describe to you how much I love(d) them; my day, NAY MY LIFE, was infinitely improved. They were only £24.99 too, so literally the biggest bargain of my entire human life.
So, my shoes and I should have lived happily ever after. We had all the makings of a perfect couple. I wore them out on Saturday night for a casual one at Snobs and things were going swimmingly. They were comfy. I was tall. It was a most exciting time. HOWEVER, being the literal clumsy idiot I am and also blaming New Look somewhat, I managed to break ALL of the straps on one of the shoes. I wasn’t even vigorously dancing; I managed to break my shoes by simply standing up. Obviously, I was more upset about the fact my shoes had broken than the fact that I had to spend a million pounds to go home, get another pair of shoes and come back out. I’m going to replace them this weekend and hope that the next pair survives longer than an hour because I really, really can’t live without them!
Outfit of the Day: Bank Holiday Special
This is our first Outfit of the Day post and, true to form, we are doing it in a slightly askew way as it’s actually Outfits of the Weekend That We Were Too Lazy to Post at the Time (or #ootwtwwtltpatt for you Instagrammers out there).
