Outfit of the Day: Primark Tartan and Leather

OOTD 16th D Collage 1Leather-sleeved coat: eBay / Tartan leggings: Primark / Boots: eBay

Hey chicas. Excuse my chronic case of Bitch Face re-surfacing here, I think it was just a case of the Sunday night blues when these snaps were taken.  I featured these tartan leggings in my recent haul post and I’ve already got so much love for them. This is also potentially the first year I’ve genuinely liked my winter coat; this wool and PU leather mixed coat manages to fight my usual coat gripes by being a good length and also not too bulky for my petite frame – plus it was a complete and utter bargain from China.

OOTD 15th D Collage 2Oversized tee: Boohoo (old) / Chain: eBay (similar)

Teamed with an oversized t-shirt and my trust Jeffrey Campbell dupes (which are so stupidly comfy it’s ridiculous) I was pretty pleased with this a smart/cas outfit. But the question of the day, as always is:

What on earth do YOU all think?

December Fashion Haul: Glamorous, Abandon Ship & Primark

Dec Haul 1Hey there all of you fine pieces of ass! Now normally it annoys me ever so slightly when people post a ‘haul’ and it actually only contains a couple of items. And yet… that is exactly what I’m going to do for you today. I know, I know, one rule for you and another for me; I’m a bloody nightmare.

Due to poverty I haven’t been buying much recently, but here are a few bits that I’ve managed to pick up when I’ve been able to collect enough pennies from bins, gutters, etc.

Dec Haul 3Cropped fluffy jumper: Glamorous

I picked up this little beauty from The Clothes Show last weekend. My obsession with all things fluffy has been strong this winter, and I lusted after the similar Topshop version of this jumper for a good while, but at almost £40 I just couldn’t justify it. When I spotted this at the Glamorous stand my little heart started singing with joy, and I managed to bag it for a mere £20 (RRP £35, huzzah!)

Kitten body: Abandon Ship Apparel

Another Clothes Show purchase. As soon as I laid on this body I was almost borderline hysterical with laughter and joy – and while I wouldn’t usually recommend hysteria as a good mindset for shopping, I haven’t looked back. I can’t find this on Abandon Ship’s website anymore, but they have a range of other Satanic kitten-themed clothes that I strongly suggest you check out.

Dec Haul 4Cigarette trousers: Primark

I actually picked these up about a month ago from Primark so I’m not sure if they’re still in stock. They have a kind of embossed effect that makes them a little jazzier than your usual black trouser. I think they were only around £11 and I’ve already got a lot of wear out of them.

Tartan leggings: Primark

Finally, finally, I hop on the tartan bandwagon. Topshop have had an amazing pair of thick tartan leggings in store for a while, but again I couldn’t indulge myself with Toppers prices. These aren’t quite as nice, but at £6 they’re around a quarter of the price so I’m definitely able to cope. They’re a nice thick material so avoid that tacky look that printed leggings sometimes have, and I quite like the strong blue tones in the tartan. I’m looking forward to wearing these rolled up with some chunky black boots and pretending I’m cool.

Dec Haul 5Fur collar: c/o New Look

I’d been after a fur stole/collar/scarf thing for ages and was delighted to stumble upon this one in New Look. Despite the fact that it’s still – as Lauren and I keep telling anyone who will listen – very mild for December, this has been a welcome addition on many early mornings.

Miscellaneous: Primark

Whilst in Primark at the weekend I had to pick up a few boring essentials such as tights, socks, a hair clip and the elusive black vest (I must have about twenty yet can I ever find them?!). I also picked up these brogues, which I already have the brown version of – never let it be said that I don’t step out of my comfort zone.

What do you all think of this mini haul?

Primark Spring/Summer 2014 Collection: First Look

Good afternoon you saucy wenches! People who have been reading us for a while might remember a post that we did back in July on Primark’s A/W 2013 Collection. For those who don’t remember or have more important things to do with their lives than read back, I basically ripped into the whole collection and claimed that I would never ever ev-uh be seen dead in the array of PVC, tartan and gaudy gemstones that the autumn/winter collection was offering.

Fast forward a few months, the post remains one of our most read blog posts ever and it turns out that I’m a big fat liar. I eventually came to love nearly all the trends and pieces that I slammed upon first seeing (except for kitten heels, I never went quite that far into the dark side). When I saw that the initial images of Primark’s Spring/Summer ’14 collection had been released, then, I decided to approach them with a much more open mind.

And I have to say, I’m feeling pretty positive about the coming season!
Primark SS Collage 2The Primark S/S14 collection seems to feature a lot of bold colours, prints and shapes. I’m convinced that this daisy dress with its cute Peter Pan collar will become one of those sell-out Primark pieces, just like the collared tartan dress was this season.  Trousers also look set to remain big news, and of course my wardrobe’s crying out for another garish pair just like this. The mixed print makes them really fun while the paneling should help keep them pretty flattering (or so my thighs are hoping). I’m delighted to also see a few more co-ords dotted around next season; this jacket and short combo will work amazingly both separately or together. The subtle floral keeps it from looking too overpowering, and I’d quite like to swish about work wearing this.

Primark SS Collage 3It seems as if S/S 2014 will see Primark finally get on the skort trend! I think this is frankly superb news; I’ve always been put off buying any of the cheap skorts online simply because I have no idea how flattering they would be on my shape. Primark bringing out affordable versions is therefore the perfect way for unsure people like myself to experiment with the look. Baby pink features quite a lot in the collection, which I do think works quite nicely in some pieces – this skirt, for example, will look pretty fit during the summer – but looks horrific in others (there’s a baby pink biker jacket that I just can’t bring myself to expose you to). Check also looks like it’s hanging around in S/S, though in a simpler version than the wintery tartan that we all grew to love (eventually, in my case).

Primark SS Collage 1

The few accessories images that have been released have made me pretty excited. I still don’t really love big gemstone necklaces like this, but I’m addicted to gemstone rings so hopefully there are other statement pieces to go alongside this. In the shoe department we have little baby pink slipper shoes (top marks for cuteness, bottom marks for practicality) as well as clumpy mary-janes that will look perfect with some frilly ankle socks (thank goodness I invested in about eighty-three pairs this autumn). I am SO happy to see the holographic trend seeping in in the form of this bag – it’s not quite as nice as the ones I’ve seen in Topshop and River Island, but at half the price it’s still a welcome addition to the collection.

In general, the pictures from the Primark Spring/Summer 2014 collection look pretty promising. It seems that some key trends are going to be catered for in a wearable and affordable way. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more pieces and will be sure to throw my opinions on them in your faces as soon as I spot them. All of these images were nabbed from Look so you can peruse the whole range of images there if you so desire.

Outfit of the Day: The Clothes Show

OOTD 8th D CollageJumper: New Look / Skirt: Primark / Boots: New Look / Rings: Primark / Nails: Barry M in ‘Watermelon’

Good afternoon ladies and gents! This is just a lazy quick post for you showing you what I wore to The Clothes Show today. Lauren and I were lucky enough to blag press passes (I know, they’ll let any old riff raff in) and we had a fantastic day swanning about with our name badges, spending money despite telling ourselves that we wouldn’t. We’ll have a full post all about the show coming tomorrow – there are loads of pictures of topless men, if that does anything to help persuade you to come back then.

Oh, and for anybody still interested in my quest for white/silver hair, I recently used La Riche Directions Silver Toner as opposed to the White Toner that I used before, and I think y’all will agree that this is the best colour that it’s turned out yet. I edge slowly closer to the hair of my dreams (shame about the outgrown fringe, to cut back in or not to cut back in, THAT is the question).

What do you all think of this OOTD? Were any of you at the Clothes Show?

Outfit of the Day: Missguided Bardot Playsuit

ootd 1st d collage 1Playsuit: Missguided / Belt: Primark / Bag: Primark / Shoes: Asos

Okay, so remember how a while ago I made a vow to give up fake tan (and even wrote a whole post on it)? Yeah, well, safe to say that’s gone out the window…

On Saturday night one of my besty pals had a party as she’s leaving to go travelling in a couple of weeks. Naturally I wanted to wear full black and a black veil to show how devvoed I am about her not being around for the next year, but in the interest of not killing the party vibe I instead opted for this Missguided playsuit. It was only £19.99 but is currently in the sale with a whopping 30% off so if you like it then GO GO GO!

I kept accessories pretty simple with a skinny tan belt from Primark, a couple of cheapo rings and my beloved but much abused nude heels. Although I love them, I have to admit they’re not the comfiest of heels, meaning that by half 3 I was doing the ‘help I have been cobbled like the man in Misery‘ dance – which no, does not attract the boys, funnily enough.

ootd 1st d 6Eyelashes: Eylure 202 / Lipstick: MAC Creme D’Nude

It was an all round tip top night that resulted in a seriously zombie-like state for the majority of yesterday. Eventually the only cure was a takeaway pizza. That I ordered alone. For one. At half 4 in the afternoon.

Outfit of the Day: The Big Massive Fedora

OOTD 30th N CollageSo I recently decided to branch out a bit and buy myself a fedora. I’d seen them gracing the heads of many a fashionista and thought, yeah, let’s give that a go. However because I am an IDIOT I failed to buy one of the reasonably sized fedoras that the likes of Lily Melrose have been sporting, and instead accidentally ordered this massive hat from eBay. Honestly, it looks like a frickin’ sombrero.

OOTD 30th N Collage 2Hat: eBay / Dress: Topshop / Sleeveless Leather Jacket: H&M

OOTD 30th N Collage 3Boots: New Look /Rings: Primark and eBay / Nails: Barry M ‘Lychee’

While I do enjoy the drama that the big massive hat brings to an outfit – imagine, for example, how emotional my train station goodbyes would look if I wore this – I’m unconvinced of the ultimate wearability of the big massive hat. I mean, will my head even fit in my car?

What do you all think of the fedora trend? Do you have any tips on how to wear them?

Outfit of the Day: Shearling Denim Jacket

OOTD 19th N COllage 1Denim Aviator Jacket: eBay / Skater Dress: H&M / Wool Tights: Primark / Boots: New Look / Cross: Primark / Ring: Primark

Hey chicas! It occurred to me that I never really show any coats or jackets in my OOTDs, which is because I generally regard them to be a massive pain in the arse and cumbersome and outfit/life ruiners. But. I do like this jacket, so I thought I’d show it for once.

I bought it at the start of the year for around £15 from an eBay seller who had a job lot of them. It’s actually made by Denim Co, which is the brand behind Primark denim, so I’m not sure whether it was ever actually sold in store. It’s the warmest, cosiest thing in the world though, and I don’t even mind the fact that it makes me look bulky. Now that’s true love right there.

OOTD 19th N CollageKimono: Primark

Of course we’re all layering now it’s getting into chilly willy time, so this beaut kimono was worn underneath. I featured this in a Primark haul a few months back and I wear it more than is probably socially acceptable.

Outfit of the Day: How to Wear the Casual Jumpsuit

OOTD 18th N CollageJumpsuit: H&M (old) / Cardigan: Primark / Chain: eBay / Shoes: Primark

Okay, so you know how basically winter comes around and we all just wish we could wear our onesies to work? Well I have cracked how to do this without receiving a disciplinary – a jumpsuit! Of course this is only really a useful tip if you own this exact jumpsuit, which I bought from H&M about two years ago, and I accept that the chances of this are unlikely. Sorry then, can’t help you there.

I can brag, however, that this was one of my comfiest days at work in a long while. The jumpsuit is a loose fitting cotton material – so not exactly as warm as a onesie, but with the help of my current favey Primark cardigan, the chills were kept at bay. I’ve had these gold studded pumps around 18 months now but I still see them popping up in haul posts sometimes, so I think they’re the sort of Primark wonder that sometimes re-appear in store.

Oh, and these photos also give you a little update of the current state of Operation Grey Hair. As you can see,  a wee disaster mishap occurred where I accidentally dyed quite a bit of my hair purple. However, I think this just adds character. Yep. That’s what I’m saying.

What do you think of this OOTD?

Outfit of the Day: Mirror Edition #2

Merry Saturday, one and all! So, anyone who gives a tiny poo (i.e. probably nobody) may have noticed that I’ve been somewhat absent from the OOTD hype as of late. This is partly due to some technical problems at Stylingo HQ in the form of our camera finally biting the dust, and what can only be described as personality problems on my part as I’m too lazy to take photos at work.

But, just in case anybody is really curious about what I’ve been wearing recently, here are a few mirror snaps that I’ve uploaded to our Instagram account:
12 Nov 1
Black Dress – H&M / Kimono – Missguided / Rose Gold Cross – Primark / Brogues – New Look / Bag – Marc B

Remember when I said that I have a tendency to overload on black during the autumn and winter months? Well here is a prime example of me doing so. The lace kimono from Missguided is still one of my favourite items after I first wore it to the Bullring Ten event, and teamed with a simple black dress (which you can’t see at all, but is fitted and has a high mesh neckline) it’s the perfect way to pretty up an outfit. The Marc B bag that I got for my birthday this year is also still a firm fave of mine and rarely leaves the nook of my arm.

12 Nov 2Leotard – Primark / Jeggings – Topshop

I’ve had this leotard for probably around two years now but have just brought it out of hibernation again after realising I still love it quite a lot. Worn with my Topshop jeggings it created quite a fun casual outfit – though I still wore this for work, God help me if I ever work in a strict office.

12 Nov 4Dress – Topshop / Blazer – eBay / Silver Cross – Primark

This is definitely one of my more work-appropriate outfits, even with the paint-splattered effect of the dress. This dress is a really loose fitting swing dress that is a bit swampy on its own, so the addition of the cropped waterfall blazer (which I also have in mint, so keen I am for it) makes it a bit more fitted. I accessorised with my trusty silver cross, and seemingly some trampy hair bobbles on my wrist, which I always accidentally leave on (but I think they may become super fashionable soon, so it’s fine).

12 Nov 3Crop Jumper – Topshop (old) / Skater Dress – Topshop / Necklace – eBay / Nails – Barry M ‘Duchess’

I actually tried to get proper OOTD pictures in this outfit the other day, but the winds were somewhat… shall we say whirlwind-esque? .. so I looked a state in all of them. Layering jumpers over dresses and playsuits is something I definitely plan to do more of this winter, and this cropped Topshop jumper that I’ve had for a couple of years is perfect for it. I’m still loving the Barry M nail polish from the Royal Glitter collection (I reviewed it in full here if you fancy a read) and tend to keep my jewellery quite minimal where I’m wearing it.

What do you think of these outfits? Do you have a favourite?

Outfit of the Day: Primark Clashing Prints

BONJOURNO.

In my eternal bid for being a bit more interesting when it comes to my very own (slightly crap) personal style, I decided to go a bit wild for work yesterday. I’m very much the type of girl who wears a boring array of plain things on a day-to-day basis. Occasionally I might go a bit mad and don a garment that is a bit out there (i.e. when I went out for Claire’s birthday dressed as the Sistine Chapel, which you can see right here if you wish), but for the most part I’m lurking around in black like a pervert in mourning.

To shake things up a bit, I decided to go for some clashing prints to throw myself into the deep end of not looking like a snore. I bought these trousers quite a while back and they are SUPER comfy and super useful. The jazzy monochrome shirt was also bought a while back now and it’s another one that is comfy but can be worn for work/evening/dancing with leprechauns.

Once again, it appears I have revealed that I am a troll that doesn’t shop anywhere but Primark. I have to say that only the other day I was wearing an outfit that had no Primark items in it whatsoever. It happens very occasionally, but it does happen DON’T WORRY. But anyway, it’s a cheap and cheerful outfit and I actually felt like I’d made an effort for once.

Until today. I’m wearing a grey midi dress and black tights. Lets all lay our heads on our desks and have a little nap.

What do you think of my Primark clashing prints? YAY OR NAY?

If any of you beautiful ladies have any blog posts about your clashing prints, send them my way! My mission for an interesting wardrobe continues…
