The Cream Colostrum

The Cream Colostrum CLose UpSkincare has become more important to me thank ever these days, thanks to my eczema makings me look like a permanent dinosaur. Thankfully, it’s mostly under control, but I still get problem areas on my hands and occasionally (ugh) on my face. Before my pesky eczema started ruining my life a few years ago, I was never too bothered about what I put on my skin. Don’t get me wrong, I moisturised, cleansed and toned religiously, but in terms of paying attention to ingredients, I was just, quite frankly, not arsed.

Sadly, I’m now pretty limited to what I can whack on my skin. In terms of perfumed stuff, I just can’t risk putting ANYTHING remotely scented on my face or body. Even supposedly dermatologically approved stuff like Sanex can irritate it a little bit. For those who are wondering, I use Aveeno body wash (which has active oat essence, whatever that is) in the shower and moisturise my baaaaady twice a day with Aveeno Skin Relief moisturiser.

In terms of face cream, I end up just using Aveeno Skin Relief as well. It’s not ideal, because it is a body moisturiser, and can be a bit heavy – particularly before putting on makeup. If you’ve ever used Aveeno Skin Relief before, you’ll know that it is fantastic for body moisturising because you feel soft and moisturised for the entire day. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work for my face, because who wants to feel greasy and covered in moisturiser all day? Not I, said the walrus.

So, the point of all this waffling is that I was hugely excited when the lovely people at the Pink Cow Brand got in touch to see if we would like to review their revolutionary new range of skincare, theCream. It was started by a New Zealand man guy who has lots of experience in the natural health industry, and wanted to create a brand that didn’t use anything nasty and gross. It’s a fabulous story that I won’t go into too much detail about here, but you can find out more if you so wish.

The point of theCream is that it is 100% natural – which is definitely proven by the ingredient list. There are lots of lovely oil related things, as well as colostrum, which is essentially weird boob stuff that comes before cows/people/things give birth. This cream uses colostrum from cows, which is apparently loads stronger than people colostrum. It sounds quite bizarre, but apparently it is life giving, helps to rebuild cells, regenerates tissue and generally is fantastic. The Pink Cow brand uses 65% colostrum in their hand cream, and 75% colostrum in their face cream.

I’ve been testing out both over the last week, and I am impressed. The hand cream is great, although my hand eczema has been quite bad over the last few weeks, I was a bit nervous about putting it on. However, I’ve had absolutely no problems, and it has helped to ease the dryness quite a bit.

The face cream is really where I was blown away . I have never used a cream before that immediately made my face feel like it had been touched by an angel. It’s actually very surprising, because it’s a light face cream – it’s very easily absorbed and feels virtually weightless when you put it on. But it really is a game changer. You can immediately notice the difference in your skin, and your face feels silky, delightful and all-round fabulous. It’s an excellent pre-makeup moisturiser, and I have also noticed that it’s helped keep my foundation on for longer.

Another thing to note, is both of the creams smell like orange cake – which I am guessing is in part thanks to the orange peel oil they use.

The Pink Cow Brand isn’t too available yet in the UK, but if you do want to buy some of these magical products, they are available from Natural Origin.
